Elaine Bovender teaches piano in her home studio in the Monkey Junction/Carolina Beach area. She has taught piano and performed professionally for more than 40 years. She graduated Emmanuel Baptist University and holds a BS in music ministry. She regularly attends seminars and other teacher training and continuing education events to keep her teaching skills sharp and up-to-date with the latest methods. Being a mother and grandmother, she relates very well to children. She is a very patient teacher with a kind and loving spirit.
Ms. Elaine enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels and does her utmost to provide the best music education possible for her students. Lessons are individualized to meet the needs of her students with emphasis on note reading/identification, theory, technique, improvisation, and ear training. Beginning students learn the basics of piano playing while working through the Piano Safari method developed by Dr. Julie Knerr and Katherine Fisher. More advanced students work on a variety of music including classical repertoire, technique, sight reading and theory. She encourages her students to work on music from other genres that they find interesting, such as sacred, pop, etc. Ms. Elaine’s goal is to help each student develop within themselves the qualities of musicianship that will remain with them for a lifetime.
