Letter to Teachers and Parents
PAYMENT LINK (Due by April 1, 2027)
The Cape Fear Music Teachers Association (CFMTA), affiliated with the North Carolina Music Teachers Association as well as MTNA, has adopted a special program called the Musician Certification Program (MCP). This was presented at the NCMTA State Conference in Chapel Hill in 2013 and has been in effect in Charlotte for many years. We are very excited about this program and know that your children will benefit greatly as you and they become involved!
MCP is designed to help students observe and explore the world of music and to provide teachers, and parents with an educational program that will encourage students to seek a well-rounded music education.
As students attend concerts, participate in recitals, create compositions, learn repertoire, complete theory work, and research composers, motivation builds! You will be part of a wonderful program that many other students will be excited to join!
This program is for all music students who study any instrument or voice.
All students who complete the program with sufficient point totals will receive a trophy.
Points will be tallied on activities recorded from April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027. These points will be awarded by the student's teacher using their own point system.
A minimum of 200 points is required per year, with 60 points minimum from three categories: Participation, Observation and Exploration.
Points are recorded in a Student Tracker form or a list that teachers create.
NAMES and PAYMENT are due no later than April 1, 2027. No late submissions will be accepted.
Personalized acrylic trophies are ordered to arrive by May 1 for teachers to distribute at recitals or other studio events.
Registration fee ($25/student) is collected by the teacher and paid to CFMTA.
